I DID IT MY WAY

Key Verse:
Genesis 11:3 (KJV 1900)
3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

Introduction

An elderly master carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family.
He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.
When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. “This is your house,” he said, “my gift to you.”
Nimrod:
Nimrod is listed as Noah's great-grandson born of Cush, who was a son of Noah's son Ham. Genesis 10:8–9 introduce Nimrod by saying, "Cush fathered Nimrod; he was the first on earth to be a mighty man. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD. Therefore it is said, 'Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the LORD.'"
Nimrod's name uses the same Hebrew letters as the word "rebel." So when the Bible says he was a mighty hunter "before" the LORD, it could also be translated to understand that he was an animal slayer "in opposition to" the LORD. His renown as a hunter was so great that there was a saying people used elevating Nimrod's name any time someone had success in hunting. The phrase "mighty man" can also be translated as "warrior, chief, or tyrant." In fact, the following verses record that Nimrod started his kingdom by building Babel (Babylon) and extending his kingdom "in the land of Shinar (Mesopotamia)." He then turned his attention northward and "went into Assyria and built Nineveh" and other cities (Genesis 10:11). Nimrod was a conquering warrior and reigning tyrant and is actually believed to be the first person to have worn a crown. He was concerned with elevating his own name and relying on his own strength and power.

The phrase “land of Nimrod” seems to be synonymous with Assyria (Mi 5:6).

Genesis 11:1–4 KJV 1900
1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. 3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
Why did Nimrod and his people want to build this tower?
Especially when God has specifically instructed to:
Genesis 9:1 KJV 1900
1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
But instead they want to built a city and a tower that could reach the heavens.
WHY???
Because they were trying to escape God ordinance and judgment. They obvious knew what God did, flooding the earth due to their lack of disobedience. They wanted to:
Live life how they pleased
not submit to Gods order
do as they pleased
Hence the title of my thought
“I did it my way”

1. MY WAY

“Go to, let us make brick”
Before i get into what bricks represent it. Nimrod and his people wanted to make or create something on their own, that was not rooted in Gods word and plan (will explain a little more in depth later).
There is a big danger in that. When we are not rooted in Gods word or authority.
Make - to arouse, to produce, to bear fruit
Now we know the fruits of the spirit for the most part.
Galatians 5:19–21 M:BCL
19 It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time: repetitive, loveless, cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness; 20 trinket gods; magic-show religion; paranoid loneliness; cutthroat competition; all-consuming-yet-never-satisfied wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to love or be loved; divided homes and divided lives; small-minded and lopsided pursuits; 21 the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival; uncontrolled and uncontrollable addictions; ugly parodies of community. I could go on. This isn’t the first time I have warned you, you know. If you use your freedom this way, you will not inherit God’s kingdom.
Proverbs 14:12 KJV 1900
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death.

2.CONFORMITY

At time they used stones to build, but you cannot use stones to build a tower.
You needed something that you can make uniform, uniformity.
This thought tuned into an action. we must keep in tune with the spirit of God allow him to dwell in your heart, his word and spirit.
we must activate the holy spirit, DAILY!!
This is the first time (law of first mention) brick is mentioned. The idea of the mention of a brick was motivated by what Nimrod was trying to build.
And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
The idea for making bricks was with intention of building the tower and their city.
What do bricks represent?
Bricks made of - Clay, water, dried by the sun or fire by furnace.
They bricks were shaped and formed to any size they desired.
This represents conformity.
Scholars say that when they were building the tower and if a man slipped and if they either had to save the brick or the man. They chose to save the brick.
progressivism is a conforming factory and it cares not who it consumes and is more focused and determined to carry out the message at ALL costs.
Examples:
1. Abortion
2. Gender debate (they cared not of the teenager who is so confused about their identity. that they care not about him.
3. same sex marriages
the list goes on
they wanted everyone to conform to their ideology.
The brick that was invented out of rebellion is the very symbol of conformity.
Every brick is the same size and shape and form.
the brick maker is not happy until everything is the same shape and size - conformity.
Egypt used bricks/Gods people uses stones

3. THE WORLD CONFORMS, BUT GOD TRANSFORMS!

Exodus 24:12 KJV 1900
12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
This was the transfers from brick to stones.
Conformity to Gods word/truth
Deuteronomy 27:4–5 KJV 1900
4 Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister. 5 And there shalt thou build an altar unto the Lord thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
Iron tools - Do not try to change the foundation of Gods word and principles to be cater towards you!
There are alot of denominations out there that are caters to your comfort, but if you want to make it to heaven. You need truth.
Abraham,
his father was a idol worshiper
He sees Nimrod building. cities, towers, and he knows in o anti on what he believes in.
The pressure was upon Abraham in a culture like that.
Hebrews 11:9–10 KJV 1900
9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Abraham was looking for a foundation that was built upon a rock.
Daniels vision:
head of Gold
Chest of silver
Brass
iron
mixed clay
all of these human governments
What did see.......
Daniel 2:34–35 (KJV 1900)
34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
That is Gods plan to fill the earth replenish proclaim the gospel With truth!
notice the stone was not tempered shape by mans hands. the stone was left alone. we cannot temper with truth and make it suitable to please you!

You got to take it as as whole!

Our doctrine is founded upon the apostles and teachings of the Apostles of Jesus christ.
Ephesians 2:20 KJV 1900
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
We believe in:
Water baptism
1 Peter 3:21 KJV 1900
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
2. Infilling of the holy Spirit
3. One God
4. Holiness

throughout the history of Israel, you see stones playing as major role.

Jacob - running away from his brother. the bible says he put some stones together and anoints it as a pillow. Interesting his dream he has.
You want to make it to heaven build your foundation upon Jesus christ.!
2. Jacob -reconciling with his brother he took a heap of stones pilled it between him and Esau.
3. When they were going through the wilderness it was a rock that pour water around them.
4. David goes down to brook and gets stones to defeat Goliath.

Stones transforms, not conform

Romans 12:1–2 KJV 1900
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Do not be a brick/conform to this world. That is the message of this world - to confirm. It is a brick factory.
God transforms you
Matthew 16:18 KJV 1900
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Peter - you did not get this revelation because you went to a brick factory, but you got this because you got a relevations.
Rock withstands the fire
Brick cannot

The church is built upon the rock!

1 Peter 2:4–7 NIV
4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” 7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”
Matthew 3:8–9 NIV
8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. 9 And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
God can raise up children from Abraham
God is saying i rather raise up stones than people who have conformed to a way of life - that i am a seed of abraham/.
John 8:4–11 NIV
4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
When you come to repentence,God will raise you up
